La Tesla Roadster è stata presentata nel 2008 ed è uscita di produzione nel 2012, ora potrebbe tornare sul mercato in quella che potrebbe essere definita la versione 3.0, affiancandosi alla Model S e alla ormai prossima (?) Model X. Per ora è uno studio, un upgrade che non si sa se verrà offerto come aftermarket o come pack, di certo c’è che la sfida è lanciata: coprire gli oltre 600 km tra Los Angeles e San Francisco senza soste per ricaricare le batterie. Questo rappresenterebbe un grande balzo in avanti, con un aumento dell’autonomia di quasi il 50%, ottenuto concentrandosi su tre punti specifici. Punto primo le batterie: quelle che equipaggiavano la Roadster del 2008 sono state sostituite con una tipologia di ultima generazione in grado di fornire, a parità di peso (450 kg) e dimensioni, ben 70 Kw in più, con un incremento di energia del 31%. Punto secondo, l’aerodinamica: il CX migliorato del 15% da 0.36 a 0.31. Punto terzo il coefficiente di rotolamento degli pneumatici, migliorato del 20%. Il viaggio inaugurale avverrà nelle prime settimane del 2015.

The Tesla Roadster was presented in 2008 and went out of production in 2012, could now return to the market in what could be called version 3.0, alongside the Model S and the forthcoming (?) Model X. For now it is a study, an upgrade that we don’t know if it will be offered as an aftermarket or as a pack, for sure there is the challenge: to drive for 600 km from Los Angeles to San Francisco without stopping to recharge the batteries. This would represent a great leap forward, with an increased range of almost 50%, obtained by focusing on three specific points. First point the batteries: those that equipped the Roadster in 2008 have been replaced with a last generation able to provide, at the same weight (450 kg) and size, up to 70 Kw more, an increase of energy of 31 %. Second point, the aerodynamics: the CX improved by 15% from 0.36 to 0.31. Points third the coefficient of rolling tires, improved by 20%. The challege travel will take place in the first weeks of 2015.
