Al Salone di Detroit 2015, Chevrolet presenta la Volt 2016. Migliorato il prodotto e abbassato il prezzo di base di qualche migliaio di dollari. Il look è stato profondamente rinnovato e le prestazioni incrementate. Ora sono circa 80 i km di autonomia in modalità EV, mentre in modalità ibrida si arriva 676 km prima di ricaricare. Osservando il frontale la Chevrolet Volt 2016 sfoggia aggressività con luci diurne a led e una doppia griglia che rende l’aspetto molto riconoscibile. Quanto alla linea della carrozzeria, ora la Volt è più aerodinamica con una coda più sfuggente. Anche gli interni sono stati rivisti a beneficio dell’ergonomia. La plancia mantiene la stessa impostazione con due monitor da 8”, uno posizionato dietro al volante e l’altro al centro della consolle, ma il numero di pulsanti è stato ridotto. Gli aggiornamenti più attesi, però, sono sul fronte tecnologico: batteria LG Chem da 18 kW/h che è anche più leggera (-10kg), più leggera la coppia di motori elettrici (-45kg) per un’efficienza cresciuta del 12%, nuovo anche il 4 cilindri 1.5 litri da 101 CV a iniezione con consumi ancor più ridotti, nuovo l’impianto frenante e il sistema di carica. Per una ricarica completa da presa 120V servono circa 13 ore, mentre ne bastano 4,5 se ci si allaccia a una presa 240V.

At the Detroit Motor Show 2015, Chevrolet has unveiled the Volt 2016. Improved product and lowered the base price. The look has been renewed and performances improved. Now it has 80 km range in EV mode, while in hybrid mode you can reach 676 km before recharging. Looking at the front the Chevrolet Volt shows sporting aggressiveness with LED daytime running lights and a double grid that makes it look very recognizable. Now the Volt body is more aerodynamic. The interiors have been revised for the benefit of ergonomics. The dashboard has the same setup with two 8″ monitors, one positioned behind the steering wheel and the other at the center of the console, but the number of buttons has been reduced. The most anticipated updates, however, are on the technological front: LG Chem battery from 18 kW/h which is also lighter (-10kg), lighter the pair of electric motors (-45kg) for an efficiency increased by 12%, and brand new is the 4-cylinder 1.5-liter, 101 hp with fuel injection with reduced gas consumption, new braking system and charging system. A full recharge from standard 120V outlet takes about 13 hours, while it only takes 4.5 if you lace into an outlet 240V.
