One of the main protagonists at the 2017 EICMA was a beautiful Italian electric motorbike: the Energica EVA EsseEsse9. Sister of the already-known EVA with a more classic style. The company based in Modena, in the Italian Motor Valley, has presented this new version with its round headlight, is made for lovers of classic naked but keeps all the DNA of a brand that, among the first ones, has been able to put on the market high performance electric motorbikes such as the Ego. EsseEsse9 is also available in a more exclusive variant named Special with number plates on the sides that recalls the cafe racer tradition. Typical in the top made in Italy, the bike is made and customizable with tailor-made care, also choosing the type of rims and shock absorbers (optional Ohlins set with front fork and mono shock absorber at the rear). The oil-cooled engine with permanent magnets gives about 109HP and allows to reach 200 km/h, the (11.7kWh) Lithium polymer batteries allow a maximum range of about 200km. The starting price is around 26.400 euros. – For more information: http://www.energicamotor.com

Tesla moves forward, despite everything and everyone, despite the real or alleged alarms on its financial troubles, the brand that has brought electric mobility to the next level is under pressure. And here comes from Elon’s magic cylinder, not one but two tasty news. The first is the most announced electric truck by Tesla, named Tesla Semi. According to what Tesla says, at highway speeds and full load, the electric truck should have a range of 800 km per single charge. Thanks to the new Megacharger powered by solar panels, it will recharge power for over 640 km in 30 minutes. Of course, comparison with the current traditional trucks is hard considering that they can run up to 1600 km with only one refueling, you must see these data from the American point of view: in fact about 30% of US transport is on a regional scale with 200 miles range: that is (at least for now) the reference market, Musk then plays the comfort and safety options, thanks to a specific version of the Autopilot system, which keeps the vehicle in lane, speed and distance from other vehicles and brakes alone in case of danger. Interesting is the loading capacity of 36 tons and the one million mile guarantee. This time, however, Tesla isn’t first in this kind of business and other builders have already presented their solutions a few months ago, Cummins Aeos and Mercedes eTruck. The start of Tesla Semi’s production is scheduled for 2019, presenting the truck Musk launched another car: the new Tesla Roadster. Numbers are stunning with 0-60MPH in 1.9 seconds, quarter mile covered in only 8.8 seconds, maximum speed at 250MPH, while the autonomy is more than 600 miles. The only problem: waiting, at least, until 2020. The new Roadster has three electric motors, one installed at the front and two at the rear, making it a true 4wd. As others 2+2 sports cars, the back space is more suitable for children or handbags, while front space should be more than enough.

Alta Motors, based in California, was born more than nine years ago by the idea of two friends, Jeff Sand and Derek Dorresteyn, thinking that electric technology was ready (at least for motocross and off road) to potentially offer a better motorbike. The question was one of range and energy: Could you put enough batteries in an electric dirtbike to last a pro moto and a little bit more? Dorresteyn did the numbers and found you could – if you were careful with the design and kept the weight of everything else low. Since 2009, the two guys worked to create a 250cc-class e-bike and had begun to put together a company to realize it. Every design decision for the Redshift was taken to be fully competitive with conventional motorcycles. Since the first concept to production, the battery design evolved but what stayed constant was that it offered a little under 6 kWh of capacity (enough for a 30-minute pro moto or about two hours of trail use) and weighed less than 70 pounds. So every part of the bike has to be light. The Redshift MX has 40 HP liquid-cooled AC Permanent Magnet Motor (ACPM), no clutch and a Waterproof Li-Ion 350V (5.8kW/h Battery Pack). You can set the power using 4 different Maps from low traction to crazy power (and no range!). Top speed 65 MPH. For more info vist:

Jaguar presented an all electric restomod E-Type at the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest early in September 2017. The car is totally original in specification, apart from its modern powertrain and modified instrumentation. The electric powertrain developing 220kW has been specially designed for this car. Its lithium-ion battery pack has the same dimensions, and similar weight, to the XK six-cylinder engine used in the original E-type and placed in precisely the same location as the XK engine. The electric motor (and reduction gear) lies just behind the battery pack, in the same location as the E-type’s gearbox. A new propshaft sends power to a carry-over differential and final drive. The car is 46kg lighter than the original E-type. The E-type Zero has a range of 270km thanks to the low weight and good aerodynamics. It uses a 40kWh battery, which can be recharged from home overnight (in 6-7 hours, depending on power source). The Jaguar E-type Zero not only drives and looks like an E-type, it also offers outstanding performance. It’s quicker than an original E-type: 0-100km/h in only 5.5sec! More info at:
